AI teammates for small teams, compared

Every big lab shipped an always-on agent this autumn. Here is how they compare for a small team that wants to hand real work to bots, checked on 25 Oct 2026. We make Caret, so read our row with that in mind. Every other row links to its sources.

How to choose

  • One helper for yourself: Dots if you're on ChatGPT Pro, Muse for personal errands, Grok Bot if you're on X Premium or Cursor.
  • One shared bot in Slack: Claude Tag on Claude Enterprise, or Glad for a task-priced helper.
  • Open source and self-hosted: OpenAgents.
  • A small team handing several jobs to several bots, each with its own computer, asking before anything goes out, on Claude or Codex: that's what we built Caret for. Anyone on the team can have a bot of their own, and you add bots for jobs, from two bots at $40 a bot a month; people are free.

What to check in any of them

  1. Does each bot get its own computer? If bots share one, they share every login.
  2. Does it ask before it sends, pays, posts or deletes? And can someone other than you approve?
  3. Can you see what it did? Step by step, where the work happened.
  4. Are you tied to one lab's models?
  5. Can your whole team use it, or only the person who pays?
